The Harvest Story

The dream is coming to fruition

We are excited that a new season has begun with Harvest Christian School

Christian Education has been a valued part of the Kerikeri community for over thirty years and has undergone different seasons and transformations.

Building on a solid foundation, the school draws from the spiritual heritage of Godly leaders, teachers and whanau, and the rich seeds of Christian missionaries and the faithfulness of mana whenua who have nurtured the Word in this region.

The vision of Harvest Christian School has been carried by parents and whanau who believe that it is fundamental for their children to access a Christ-centred student-focused education.  Harvest Christian School can be described as a new tree planted in mature soil that has been prepared by those who have gone before us. Prior to Harvest Christian School,  Kaikohe Christian School operated a satellite campus at Waimate North (14 km outside of Kerikeri). The campus is on a beautiful location with mature trees and traditional school buildings.

The dream, however, had always been for the school to return to a new campus in Kerikeri; to have a modern purpose-built facility that would allow for school growth and to be an environment where students can explore and grow in spaces that capture and enhance their creativity.

Five years ago a group of parents began to regularly meet to pray and seek God’s direction and guidance. This dedicated group formed a trust – Faith Harvest Trust (FHT). Stepping out in faith, the process of establishing a new school began, along with planning new facilities on 5 hectares of land on Waipapa Road.

Partnering with NZCPT (The New Zealand Christian Proprietors Trust) as the new school proprietors, approval was gained by the central and local Government for the school.

The dream is now well underway!

Harvest Christian School opened in January 2022 at the Waimate North Campus, 421 Te Ahu Ahu Road. Planning and development of the purpose-built facilities on the Waipapa Road site continue and this facility is expected to open in 2024.

We are excited to see God at work in the development of Harvest Christian School. Harvest is a school for the community and we are excited to see God grow the school for His glory and honour.
